Expanded Earlobes Correction
Expansion of Earlobes by 'gauging', also known as serial 'plugging' or 'stretching', is a fashionable amongst the young and trend-setting age group. It involves serial expansion of the pierced earlobe lumen, slowly increasing the diameter to accommodate larger gauge rings. However, it can be seen as non-confomist and once in main-stream work, one may wish to have this corrected. Surgery for expanded earlobes is done under local anaesthesia as an outpatient or day case. It takes approximately 60-90 mins. Sutures are removed at a week. Scars are often red and lumpy but fade over a year to 18 months.
